Pine Street Woods Pavilion
Welcome to the Trails!
The Sandpoint Rotary Club is a not-for-profit organization that has engaged in “Service Above Self” since 1966. The Club recently partnered with Kaniksu Land Trust to put up a new entry pavilion at Pine Street Woods. This trail system includes 180-acre forest that is open to the public for hiking, mountain biking, Nordic skiing, and more.
The Club approached us to build the timber frame pavilion that serves as the “starting point” for the trails. The pavilion features 14’ roof rafters covered with hand-split cedar shake shingles. The design also includes curved knee braces that mimic an existing timber structure. The pavilion was assembled with mortise and tenon joinery, secured with oak dowels. Using these traditional building techniques helps the structure blend in with the surrounding forest. We delivered the pavilion as a kit and the Rotary Club members worked together to assemble it.
This project was minor in size, but big in heart. Participating in a community project brings connection and joy. Thanks to Rotary Club for including us on this beautiful project!
